Meet Jim

Jim SteffesnonI’ve been at this for over thirty years. Which means I’ve learned a thing or two about working with building materials and people.

Communication
I take the time to listen you your needs and work with you to find creative solutions. I also keep you informed throughout the project.

Craftsmanship
Steffenson Carpentry was established in 1985 in the Minneapolis area. Since then, I have had the opportunity to work on just about every sort of job – new home construction, remodels, even high rises. My forte is remodeling. I thrive on creatively transforming something that needs work into a final result that everyone is pleased with.

I relocated to Bayfield, WI in 2000 and began specializing in “green” homes and remodeling projects. I built my own sustainable, off-grid home and shop in 2002, complete with a 1.4 KW photovoltaic system and solar domestic hot water. I keep current with building trends and products and strive to employ green practices whenever possible.

Years of experience in the building industry and an intimate knowledge of local contractors, means I can deliver quality service and materials to your project.

Community Outreach
I am a Master Gardner and regularly volunteer my gardening services in the Bayfield community. I also donate time and expertise with students at Bayfield High School, assisting with both the agriculture program and tech-ed department. Additionally, I have worked with Norhtland College’s outreach program, teaching a Sustainable Building class to students. I care about my community and our environment. So I’m happy to share my knowledge and skills in whatever way I can.
